About Coach McLeod

Training Run is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to developing and improving the performance of post-collegiate and Olympic hopeful distance runners by Coach Rob McLeod.  Coach McLeod is a 5 time All American runner with a lifetime of experience.  Trained by some of the best coaches and utilizing the Lydiard System of Training, Coach McLeod was able to achieve conference wins in high school and college and his dream is to help to train runners to discover their talent and compete on an international level.

When Rob McLeod started his career as a coach, Pittsburg State University had a good Men’s Track & Cross Country Program and History.  The Women’s Program, however, seemed to be largely ignored.  In August 1980 Coach McLeod took over the Job of Coaching the Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field. Coach McLeod recruited an athlete from Dodge City, Kansas to come to PSU and she became one of the leaders of the team.    She won Our District 10 As Well as the Conference Championship. She also was an All American at the National Championship.  This was a long shot as this particular student athlete was not expected to achieve anything this prestigious given our lack of funds and backing.  She was tough and Coach McLeod molded her into a champion.

Another Two Freshman in the program were recruited and became All American in Cross Country, Indoor 2 mile, and Outdoors 3000m, and Outdoors 5000m. Coach McLeod fostered 6 All Americans for PSU when the program previously had never even won an Individual Race.  The team also placed 7th at The National Championship in Cross Country, a team that had never won won an individual race.

Coach McLeod is opening up his Roster at Training Run to take Applications for a 4 Year Olympic Training Cycle.
